I used to think there was an answer to that question. The more 'website bios' I read, the more foolish it seemed to consider that you might get to know me from this little bit of information. I will give you a little, for more you will need to pull from my images. Certainly, they will tell you more about 'who the Hellas' than any words on a page.
I was raised in three amazing places (and the places inbetween); Coconut Grove, FL. , Berkeley, CA. and St. Augustine, FL. A wild child, wilder child and then an old child. In many ways, these places live in me now and their influence continues to flourish through my life and work.
Photography first came knocking when I was about seven years old. I encountered a generous and beautiful woman with a camera. And she set me on the path. Of course, I would stumble off and on that path for years, but eventually I came to the conclusion that nothing soothed the savaged beast in me like photography. . .
